Chambres d'Hôtes in Alpes

In the very heart of the southern Alps, a Piedmontese house made out of stone opens its doors for you.

The House

Le Saule: A History of Stones
Our house "Le Saule" is named after the rock that rises high above it. About 300 years ago builders from Piedmont cut stones out of this rock, and let them fall down to a place where they would start building. When we first arrived here, there was nothing left but ruins. We gathered the stones and started rebuilding almost from the ground up. In the southern region of the Alps, several houses have been reconstructed in this way. Situated in the Valley of Haut Estéron (altitude of 1,010m), our house is homologated for its guest rooms by the French landlords' association "Gîtes de France". It has become a haven for some of our artistic friends who come here during weekends in search of inspiration for their art, here and in the country that surrounds us.
